The LA Watts Summer Games (Games) was established by LAJCC in 1968 as a positive response to the Watts Riots of 1965.  The mission of the Games is to build bridges of understanding among high school youth through positive interaction, respect and achievement through spirited competition in athletics, arts and academics.  Over the years, the Games has served more than 287,463 student athletes from  diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds and has become a gathering of cultures, ideas, philosophies and the realization that today’s youth can achieve common goals and reach greater heights through healthy competition. 

Celebrating the 45^th Anniversary since the Game’s inception, the LA Junior Chamber of Commerce Charity Foundation strives to deliver the following outcomes at the 2012 LA Watts Summer Games scheduled to take place in June 9,10 and 16^th in South Los Angeles: 

Ø  To positively impact the lives of the Los Angeles residents through spirited competition

Ø  To provide a platform of opportunity for the youth of Los Angeles through educational workshops

Ø  To build awareness of the benefits of healthy eating and active lifestyles

Ø  To promote a spirit of acceptance among diverse cultures and backgrounds

Ø  To increase a sense of community among all Angelinos
